Making the Most of Our Time Off

Making the most of our time off.

Sport has been a major part of my life since childhood. It not only helps keep the body healthy, but is also valuable for developing management skills. Exercise, in particular, hones our ability to assess situations and make decisions quickly, while reducing stress. Taking part in games and team sports also develops tactical thinking, cooperation, teamwork, support and mutual assistance.

Personally, I prefer team sports. Unfortunately, they require a team, a sports venue and a fixed training schedule so that everyone can gather in the same place at the same time. You could say that organising regular training sessions is a management task in its own right.

I have written before about the solution I found: as a Candidate for Master of Sport in handball and a former MSU team player, I now regularly join the current MSU team’s training sessions. Passing my experience on to the next generation, so to speak.

But now it is summer. Everyone is on holiday, and there are no training sessions.

That is no obstacle for someone determined, though. This summer, my friends and I have been going to tennis practice regularly. The photo is from our Saturday practice. Many thanks to Ekaterina Doroseva for taking it.

I am sure that once training at MSU resumes, I will still manage to fit weekend tennis into my schedule.

I wish you all good cheer and excellent health. And remember: a healthy mind in a healthy body!

Find a way to rearrange your commitments so there is always time for sport. That is not such a difficult task for a capable manager.
