Vivaldi

In 2010, I created the Vivaldi document access management system. Vivaldi provides a single interface that lets users access e-books hosted by various organisations, libraries and publishers. Rights holders can fully control access to their e-books using Vivaldi, creating both free and paid access packages. Copy protection is built into Vivaldi, and owners can see statistics on how many times people have accessed their documents online. This means that digital libraries can provide copyright-compliant access to their books.

Today, Vivaldi is installed and functioning in the largest libraries in Russia, providing 24/7 access to a wide range of information. For example, in the National Library of Russia, about 900 thousand electronic books are available through the Vivaldi system. Daily statistics on various parameters amount to hundreds of thousands.

What’s more, the internal protocol of Vivaldi works as the main way libraries in the FGIS National Electronic Library interact with each other.

It’s great to see how your well-designed and well-implemented idea has been helping lots of big institutions for over a decade and a half.
