Visibility – A Contender for Word of the Year
Some time ago, I launched my blog. Its main purpose was to preserve everything I had written over the previous year and a half. However, many people told me in the comments that blogs were no longer fashionable and that I should create and run my own Telegram channel. “Why not?” I thought, and started figuring out how Telegram worked.
So I created a channel. You can find it, by the way:
- By searching for “Digital Transformation”;
- Or via the direct link: @OlegShorinCDTO
It turned out that you cannot add posts to a Telegram channel retrospectively. I began cross-posting the things I was currently writing for LinkedIn and my blog, which is why the channel has fewer posts than it otherwise might. At the same time, I started playing with the settings: I changed the channel image a couple of times, enabled comments, allowed reactions and let people copy and forward posts (it annoys me when someone disables that). My Telegram channel is probably not fully set up yet, but it is already doing its main job – people have started subscribing, reacting to posts and commenting on them.
That left me with a question: how should I connect LinkedIn, the blog and Telegram?
Here is what I decided. Since I am not selling anything, I do not have a sales funnel or any need to pull my audience from one ecosystem (the less sales-focused one) into another (the more sales-focused one). Instead, I will try to make it comfortable for readers to follow my posts in whichever system suits them best. Links in LinkedIn posts will lead to other LinkedIn posts, links in the blog will stay within the blog, and links in Telegram will stay within Telegram. That way, readers can remain within a single system without having to leave it.
If there is no suitable Telegram post because older posts cannot be added retrospectively, I will link to the blog instead (not everyone can access LinkedIn).
At the same time, my LinkedIn profile points people towards my blog and Telegram; the blog has links to LinkedIn and Telegram; and Telegram has links to the blog and LinkedIn. In short, those who seek shall find!
If I am going to build a personal brand, I might as well do it systematically and thoroughly!
P.S. If you prefer following me on Telegram and have not yet subscribed to my channel, now is the perfect time to do so!
P.P.S. I would welcome any comments, observations or advice about configuring and fine-tuning the Telegram channel.
