Rostec’s Management Talent Pool

I have joined Rostec’s management talent pool.

As some of you may remember, this summer I was included in a pool of highly qualified managers and specialists in the digital transformation of public administration.

More recently, I successfully completed the selection process for the management talent pool at Rostec State Corporation. It was quite a long journey, modelled on the Leaders of Russia competition: first, my qualifications and experience were checked; then came online tests; and finally, there was a multi-day in-person session during which we took part in various business simulations.

A few weeks ago, I received an email confirming that, based on my performance throughout the selection process, I had been admitted to Rostec’s management talent pool. It also included detailed feedback.

It turned out that we had been assessed on four competencies: effective team communication, resilience under pressure, decision-making and analytical thinking. My score for the first fell just short of the top level; I received the highest score in all the others.

The following strengths were highlighted in my feedback:

  • Expressing my thoughts clearly and concisely when communicating;
  • Regularly keeping the team informed about progress, results, and new goals and tasks;
  • Using feedback effectively—both giving appropriate feedback and receiving it from others;
  • Presenting persuasive arguments for my decisions;
  • Using different management and persuasion techniques depending on the situation and the people involved;
  • Maintaining a high level of performance;
  • Persevering when faced with obstacles;
  • Responding constructively to objections, unwillingness to cooperate and conflict;
  • Delivering high-quality work under tight deadlines;
  • Supporting others in stressful situations;
  • Being driven to achieve ambitious results;
  • Adjusting decisions promptly when circumstances change or new information emerges, without compromising effectiveness;
  • Setting clear priorities when making decisions;
  • Planning and organising work in conditions of uncertainty;
  • Developing and implementing unconventional solutions that improve performance;
  • Initiating changes and reviewing processes and structures to improve internal business efficiency;
  • Identifying and structuring key information, and cross-checking it against several sources;
  • Analysing risks: assessing potential difficulties, developing risk-aware solutions and creating risk maps;
  • Taking action to reduce the risk of overspending or resource shortages, and optimising resources without compromising results;
  • Identifying relationships between different processes and drawing conclusions aimed at improving them.

P.S. A group photo from the in-person session.
