Academic Mobility for Students

I have already written that, as a RANEPA student, I have access to around a hundred continuing and additional professional education programmes under Priority 2030.

In the comments on that post, Mikhail Karelin, Chief Commercial Officer asked me to share more information. Over the weekend, I looked at the programmes more closely. Here are my conclusions.

The first thing that strikes you is the overwhelming prevalence of legal subjects. The titles of the vast majority include phrases such as “legal foundations”, “legal support”, “protection of rights”, “contract for”, “invalidity of transactions”, and “specifics of legal regulation”.

There are many programmes in accounting, marketing, human-resources management, and intellectual property. Management programmes appear only occasionally: project-management fundamentals, risk management and conflict management.

The second point is that the available slots are limited to either October or November. In practice, you can complete only one or two programmes properly, because any more will most likely clash in time.

Strangely enough, there are only two IT-related programmes in the entire list:

• Application of information technology in public administration and business.
• Digital transformation of business.

I enrolled in both, although during my studies at RANEPA we were taught a course called “Information and Analytical Technologies in Public and Municipal Administration”. I do not expect a continuing-education programme to tell me anything new, but you never know…

And it will be interesting to hear about digital transformation of business once again, just to keep my finger on the pulse.
